At the conclusion of last season I had mixed feelings of satisfaction and some of disappointment.  The Schartner Racing and Crow Motorsports teams had an extremely successful year and I was proud of the effort put forth by both to get us where we needed to be week in and week out.  We were able to pick up our first modlite win and one week later, pick up a second in a row.  The Crow Motorsports guys gave me a car that was basically flawless week in and week out and we were able to respond with an early season win and of course the Mr. Small Block title later on in the year.  We generated much success throughout the season but ultimately fell short of our goal of winning the Small Block title as well as The Classic.  Although high goals and high standards for some, I pride myself in being able to drive for a crew that expects nothing but the best from themselves week in and week out as well as the best of me.  It pushes me to become better and perform better week in and week out and I feel that our program will take strides forward this year yet again towards the ultimate goals.

With the first race of the year set and scheduled we have already began preparations for the upcoming season.  A top notch motor, a potent Hedger Chassis as well as a few other tricks and I feel were going to be a force to be reckoned with immediately out of the gate.  I want to start off strong and work on holding my competitors off as the season goes rather than playing catch up.  We have the ability to take command early in the series and that’s exactly what I hope to have happen.  Each week we get to the track I feel is a week that we are set to win, and were going to work hard early to turn them beliefs into a reality come May.

I appreciate all the support throughout the last two years in the series I have received from fans, fellow drivers, my crew and my sponsors.  I hope to make our mission towards the 2011 title one of excitement for ourselves as well as everyone else watching and supporting the Crow Motorsports team.  Thanks again for the support and I’ll see everyone in May.

We are excited about this season and we will be ready.

Schartner wins at Oswego

In the Pathfinder Bank Small Block Supermodified division, Weedsports Andrew Schartner pocketed his fifth career win aboard the Crow Motorsports No. 18.

On Friday at Brewerton Speedway, he brought his family built and operated Mod-Lite home fifth. On Saturday, he switched from the dirt to the pavement and came home third at the Oswego Speedway driving the Crow Motorsports Small Block Supermodified.

Then, he went back to the dirt on Sunday and closed the weekend out with a wire-to-wire Mod-Lite victory at the Cayuga County Fair Speedway in Weedsport, N.Y.

For the 21-year-old Schartner, it was all in a weekend's work.

"We had a really good weekend overall," Schartner said. "Friday and Saturday were solid, and winning here tonight is awesome. My father builds the Mod-Lite cars I drive, so it's always special to win one of these races. The car was really loose tonight so I just ran the bottom and that ended up working out really well."

Andrew has always enjoyed going from one type of racing surface to the other. "It's fun and it's challenging," the UNC-Charlotte Motorsports Engineering student says. "It takes different skills and different thought processes to be fast on each surface, and the two cars I drive are so much different. I think it makes you a better racer if you can race both, and I am really appreciative that so many people have gotten behind me to allow me to do that."
