Schartner another Weedsport win 7-3-2011

On Friday at Brewerton Speedway, he brought his family built and operated Mod-Lite home fifth. On Saturday, he switched from the dirt to the pavement and came home third at the Oswego Speedway driving the Crow Motorsports Small Block Supermodified.

Then, he went back to the dirt on Sunday and closed the weekend out with a wire-to-wire Mod-Lite victory at the Cayuga County Fair Speedway in Weedsport, N.Y.

For the 21-year-old Schartner, it was all in a weekend's work.

"We had a really good weekend overall," Schartner said. "Friday and Saturday were solid, and winning here tonight is awesome. My father builds the Mod-Lite cars I drive, so it's always special to win one of these races. The car was really loose tonight so I just ran the bottom and that ended up working out really well."

Andrew has always enjoyed going from one type of racing surface to the other. "It's fun and it's challenging," the UNC-Charlotte Motorsports Engineering student says. "It takes different skills and different thought processes to be fast on each surface, and the two cars I drive are so much different. I think it makes you a better racer if you can race both, and I am really appreciative that so many people have gotten behind me to allow me to do that."

Classic Race
2011 Oswego NY, Classic 100 winner
With the start of the race season less than month away I feel confident with where the Crow Motorsports team will be at.  With the victory at Classic at the end of the year we ended on exactly the note I wanted to, to help propel our momentum into the start of the year.  We struggled a bit towards the end of last year with the handling and not getting the forward bite we needed.  With some dramatic changes the week before Classic and during the practice sessions on Classic Weekend we were able to swing the car back into the shape it was at the beginning of the season.  I feel confident now we know exactly where we want to be and were going to be in great shape moving forward.  It is without any doubt that with the backing of the Ukrainian National Club, Airgas, Richard Walton Trucking, Prison City Ramblers,  Bradco Supply and the help of all of my team we can be a presence that many teams will continue to fear each week. Tom, Karl, Alan and Gary will provide a state of the art car and setup each week and it will make for an exciting continue to the hard racing with Mike Bond and the rest of the field.  I fully expect that with the growing number of cars as well as the number of people that really turned it on last year that the competitiveness of the class will be at an all-time high.  We will stay ahead of the curve and be ready to go come opening day.  It is going to be a fun summer and remember to watch for the number 18 on the high side!
